Gelair Air Treatment for Air Conditioning

Gelair™ patented products contain pure Australian Tea Tree Oil, a broad spectrum antibacterial and antifungal essential oil that attacks and controls microbial contamination within air conditioning systems and air conditioned spaces.

Gelair is designed to sit in a moving airstream controlling and inhibiting fungal and bacterial contamination in your air conditioning system.

Non-toxic Gelair is a natural, biodegradable gel which contains 10% pure Australian tea tree oil in a base made from seaweed. They are bio-degradable, water solubilized solid gel products for ducted and non-ducted air conditioning systems, and for water cooling towers.

Micro fine droplets of tea tree oil – act as an anti-microbial and anti-fungal agent – are released into the moving air stream as the gel dissolves, killing the colonies of infecting organisms within the air conditioning system, and in the air conditioned zone. If Gelair is replaced regularly, it stops their re-occurrence.

Gelair Solution is the liquid form of the product. It is used to clean air conditioning coils and trays prior to installation of Gelair itself.

Gelair is suitable for use in all air conditioning systems:

  • non-ducted wall mounted split systems and room air conditioners
  • ceiling cassette & floor mounted split systems
  • ducted split systems
  • fan coil units
  • air handling units and
  • packaged units

Several basic principles should be followed for installation in each situation:

  1. Remove product from the aluminium or plastic bag, holding the bag upright.
  2. Leave the cloth wrap on the product
  3. Tighten the drawstring
  4. Place as close to the cooling coil as possible. It must be in a moving air stream.
    • preferred position is downstream of the cooling coil or
    • upstream of a heating coil
    • Avoid placement directly in the path of outside make-up air
  5. Place product so that
    • The rounded surface is facing into the moving air stream
    • The flat surface is as protected as possible from air movement
    • If necessary, Gelair can be suspended on a return air grill, an air filter or across the face of the coil
  6. Tie down the Gelair using the string on the wrap to ensure it can't be moved from its placement position.
  7. Keep the air conditioning running at all times to maximise the de-odorising and cleansing benefits of Gelair
  8. Clean all condensate trays and coils prior to insertion of Gelair, using our Gelair Tea tree Oil Solution.
  9. Hard to reach coils and duct surfaces can be sprayed with our Gelaerosol Spray prior to insertion of Gelair.
